Fees & App Development

Is the fee annual, or one time only?
The fee is annual and covers any app updates, hosting, product enhancements, CareerTapps.com listings, administrative costs, and customer service for you and your clients.

What are the discounts associated with the purchase of more than one mobile apps?
Pricing options for packages of five or more apps are available to resellers. Your CareerTapps Account Manager has all the details.

How long will it take CareerTapps to develop a mobile app for our client?
Your client can expect their mobile app will be developed/programmed within seven business days or less.

What will be required of our client during the development phase of their mobile app?
Very little is required of your client (and you) as our experienced CareerTapp team will handle everything. The only input that we may require includes:

  • icon and home screen graphics approval (if we create them for your client)
  • icon and home screen graphic files (if created by your client)
  • XML job data feed if your client would like the app to sync nightly with their applicant
  • tracking system
  • review and approval of the job “search filters”
  • review and approval of the clients CareerTapps.com app listing

App Updates For Your Client

Can the jobs listed in our client’s app be synced with their job board/ATS?
Yes. The job sync/import runs nightly and is best handled through an XML data feed, similar to those provided to a job aggregator such as SimplyHired and Indeed. Your Account Manager must be provided with the XML file by your client’s IT team or ATS vendor.

Can the mobile app graphics be updated if our client’s branding changes (icon and homescreen)?
Yes. Once the app has been developed, updating graphics such as the icon and the home screen image is a simple process and typically requires only 24 hours. Your client can send updates directly to your CareerTapps Account manager. These updates are covered in the annual hosting fee.

Can the mobile app "job filter" options be updated?
Yes. Once the app has been developed, updating job search filter options such as adding an additional filter, deleting an existing filter, adjusting filter titles, and adjusting the filter order is a simple process and typically requires only 24 hours. Your client can send updates directly to your CareerTapps Account manager. These updates are covered in the hosting fee.

Can an app listing on the CareerTapps website be changed (icon, title, and description)?
Yes. Once the app has been listed on CareerTapps.com, updating the listing such as the icon graphic and description is a simple process and typically requires only 24 hours. Your client can send updates directly to your CareerTapps Account manager. These updates are covered in the annual hosting fee.

When existing mobile devices update their operating systems will there be additional charges to update the app?
No. Upgrades are included in the annual hosting fee.

When a new mobile device is introduced to the market, a new phone or tablet, will the app work on it also?
Yes. The mobile app will continue to work on any device that has a web browser and internet connectivity.

When a new mobile device is introduced to the market, a new phone or tablet, will there be additional charges to update the app?
No. Upgrades are included in the annual fee.

Marketing

How can our clients promote their mobile app?
The mobile app can be promoted in the same manner that your clients promote their other social network accounts. Suggestions for promotion include adding the app icon on their website, in print media, throughout social networks, within email campaigns, etc.

What is the most effective marketing method for our client to gain app loads?
By far, the most successful technique is for your client to promote their mobile app at the bottom of each job description in every online job posting.

Does the mobile app offer any Search Engine Optimization (SEO) benefit for our client?
Yes. The mobile app and the associated CareerTapp Download Page are optimized for search engines and should provide a significant SEO benefit.

Will the app be submitted to the iTunes App Store or Google Play?
No. Your client’s app is web-based and will not be charging a fee for it, therefore the app is not dependent on any third party service, hosting or merchant processing platform. The app can be loaded directly from any webpage, email, QR code, social post, or online job posting.

Can our client monitor statistics associated with their mobile app?
Yes, basic activity reports are available within their Mobile App Management Center under the “App Reporting” tab.

Mobile Apply

How does an applicant apply for a job?
The applicant applies directly through your client’s applicant tracking system (ATS), or through the mobile apply feature of one their partners (CareerBuilder, Indeed, LinkedIn, etc).

Does the client’s ATS, website, or job board need to be mobile-enhanced prior to offering a mobile app?
No.

Do Careesteads mobile apps offer a built-in mobile apply option?
No.

If our client’s ATS does not yet offer mobile apply, and is not mobile-enhanced, what are the options?

  • Option 1 - Continue to direct back to their ATS: Sending applicants back to a non-mobile ATS is fine, and chances are, your client has been doing this for years with email alerts and text alerts (>50% of emails are viewed on mobile devices). Once their ATS vendor upgrades their technology, the user experience will simply be improved.
  • Option 2 - Bridging Services: There are multiple companies that offer stand-alone mobile apply services that integrate with your non-mobile ATS.
  • Option 3 - Job Board Partners: All major job boards and aggregators offer mobile apply as a service. Directing applicants through these channels is also an option.
